*How can Dimmesdale be so prepared to leave town with Hester after meeting her in the forest, and yet change his mind within the next 48 hours?
*Many people in the Puritan society of Boston, such as the town gossips, do not believe Hester's punishment to be harsh enough to suit her crime. Do you agree or disagree with this notion, and why?
